The majority of teaching staff and researchers carry out their scientific research activities within the Integrated Geological Research Center<\/strong>.
\nThe Department of Geology hosts the professional student organization Cluj Student Chapter of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG)<\/strong>, whose activities focus on: the periodic organization of scientific communication sessions for students, both locally and nationally; and the organization of conferences and meetings with Romanian or foreign specialists from academia or the industry to discuss geology-specific aspects.
\nStudents with strong performances are involved in research projects coordinated by teaching staff and department researchers.<\/h4>\n

The department annually organizes the Scientific Communication Session “Ion Popescu Voite\u0219ti<\/strong>,” traditionally held in the first part of December.
\nOccasionally, other scientific events with national and international participation are organized.
\nSome of the results of scientific research are published in the department’s specialized journal, Studia UBB \u2013 Geologia<\/em><\/strong>.<\/h4>\n
