The Doctoral School of Theoretical and Applied Geology<\/strong> has as its main mission the training of researchers in Earth sciences capable of addressing both fundamental questions in geology and practical challenges related to natural resources and the environment, combining academic excellence with practical applicability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scientific objectives<\/strong> of the program are structured around four major research directions, targeting both the fundamental study of geological processes and the resolution of problems with a direct impact on society:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. The study of sedimentary basins from paleontological, stratigraphic and sedimentological aspects, with the main objective of reconstructing the spatial and temporal relationships between sedimentary units, the evolution of paleoenvironmental parameters and highlighting the favorable conditions for the accumulation of resources useful to society.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. The study of mineralogical and petrogenic processes in the earth’s crust, with the aim of reconstructing their position in space and their evolution over time, including their potential to generate mineral resources useful to society.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. The study of the dynamic phenomena and processes that have led to the configuration and reconfiguration over time of global and regional tectonostructural units with an effect on the various major rock units.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Applied studies in interdisciplinary fields (climate changes, archaeometry, heritage conservation, construction, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
